World series game 4
Almost a very costly mistake for the Yankees in the second. Anthony Volpe was on second base but somehow didn’t score on an Austin Wells double. Volpe was caught between tagging up and running as the ball was in the air before eventually settling at third.
11:04 p.m. RBI FIELDER’S CHOICE — The Dodgers keep the infield in, and after an 11-pitch at bat, Verdugo sends a ground ball to second base. Volpe races home and reaches the plate before the tag, and the Yankees have yet another key insurance run for the ninth.
The Dodgers sliced the lead to one with two runs, both charged to Luis Gil, in the fifth inning, but New York’s bullpen stymied them from there. Five Yankees relievers held the Dodgers without a hit over the final four innings while the offense worked against Los Angeles’ slew of relievers.
9:42 p.m. RBI FIELDER’S CHOICE — Even without another home run, Freeman comes through for the Dodgers. He nearly hit into a double play to end the inning, but after a review, the ruling is overturned as Freeman got his foot on the first base bag just in time. Edman scores, and the Dodgers are within a run.
