There’s a reason first-person puzzle games far and wide are constantly compared to Portal — though a brief adventure, its gameplay, tone, writing, and structure so cohesively work together to create one of the most memorable, challenging, and fascinating puzzle games around. https://apcspanishschool.com/ Arming players with the now-iconic Portal gun and the devastating – and lethal – wit of Glad0s, Valve guided players through a fantastically orchestrated and escalating set of physics-based puzzles that ended with one of the most memorable end-credits songs of all time. But for as great as its puzzles are, and the way they take the simplicity of two portals you can shoot almost anywhere into such fascinating territory, it’s also Portal’s world-building that equally makes the game such a memorable touchstone. – Jonathon Dornbush (Read Our Review)

The gameplay in Sable revolves around exploration and solving puzzles. In any other game, this might be boring, but Sable keeps players’ jaws firmly stuck to the floor thanks to its gorgeous cel-shaded visuals and calming lo-fi soundtrack. Sable isn’t a game you play so much as you soak in, especially since it provides countless hours worth of engrossing sights, sounds, and worldbuilding. – Aaron Greenbaum

GTA V made $1 billion in three days. 2022’s highest-grossing film, Avatar: The Way of Water, took 14 to hit that milestone. It’s still Rockstar’s most audacious campaign – a multi-protagonist heist epic that mixes satire with an incredible grasp of blockbuster game-making – spanning everything from hell-raising bank robberies to leisurely bike rides down the Pacific Coast Highway.

Game 6 world series

NBC’s broadcast of Game 6 did not end until 12:32 a.m. Eastern, causing the first cancellation of an episode of NBC’s Saturday Night Live in the show’s history. The episode, hosted by Rosanna Arquette and scheduled to air live at 11:30 p.m. Eastern, was instead recorded for the studio audience beginning at 1:30 a.m., and aired November 8 with a comedic apology from Ron Darling. (NBC generally no longer schedules first-run SNL episodes on the same night as sports coverage.)

The Red Sox were not done, however. Facing Sid Fernandez, pitching in relief with runners on first and second base in the ninth inning, Boggs drove in Henderson with a double to make the score 9–3. The Mets were unable to recover from this deficit, and took the loss, giving Boston a 2–0 advantage heading to Fenway Park.

Needing to rally for the second time in three innings, and now having to overcome a two-run deficit, the Mets’ first two batters in the tenth went quietly against Schiraldi. Backman flew out to left, and Hernandez flew out to center. With Carter now New York’s last hope, the words “Congratulations Boston Red Sox, 1986 World Champions” briefly and accidentally flashed on the scoreboard.

• Only four pitchers have turned in a double-digit strikeout performance in a Game 7. Roger Clemens (2001 World Series), Gibson (1967 World Series), Sandy Koufax (’65 World Series) and Hal Newhouser (’45 World Series) share the record with 10.

After 43 years, the original Subway Series squads are back on the field in the championship series, going head-to-head as the Yankees vie for their title since 2009 and the Dodgers play for their first since 2020.

game 1 world series

Game 1 world series

This series marked the twelfth World Series meeting between the Dodgers and Yankees and the first since 1981. It was also the thirteenth meeting between teams from New York City and Los Angeles for a major professional sports championship. This previously happened in four World Series (1963, 1977, 1978, 1981), three NBA Finals (1970, 1972, and 1973) and the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals. Following the 2024 World Series, LA teams held a five to four advantage over New York City teams in terms of championship matchups between the two cities.

R&B singer Babyface sang the national anthem before Game 5 and Hideki Matsui threw the ceremonial first pitch to Jose Trevino. The game featured a pitching rematch of Game 1 between Gerrit Cole for the Yankees and Jack Flaherty for the Dodgers.

The Yankees continued to put traffic on, forcing the Dodgers to burn through relievers. In the bottom of the fifth, Alex Vesia escaped a two-out bases-loaded jam to keep the game tied at 5–5. In the bottom of the sixth, Brusdar Graterol allowed the first two Yankees to reach on walks, with the lead runner Soto scoring two batters later on a Stanton sacrifice fly to give the Yankees the lead again at 6–5. Blake Treinen, the Dodgers’ closer, entered to record the final out of the sixth and retire the side in the seventh. On the other side, Cole remained in for the Yankees for another 1+2⁄3 innings to help the Yankees reach the eighth inning with the lead.

His drive into the right-field pavilion sent Dodgers fans into a frenzy. It was the third walk-off homer in World Series history for a team that was trailing, following Gibson’s shot and Joe Carter’s drive for the Toronto Blue Jays that won the 1993 World Series against Philadelphia.

With very few exceptions, a World Series’ average viewership tops the Game 1 number. If that’s the case here, this will be the most-watched World Series in the U.S. since at least 2018, which averaged 18 million viewers.

In the top of the ninth, Michael Kopech was sent in by Roberts to close out the ninth inning. He got the first two batters he faced to ground out but then gave up a hit to Torres that was caught at the wall by a fan. Instead of a home run, he was awarded second base on a fan interference call, and the game remained tied at 2–2. After a review, the call was upheld. After intentionally walking Juan Soto, Kopech was removed from the game and replaced by Blake Treinen, who got Aaron Judge to pop out, ending the inning. Yankees closer Luke Weaver pitched a perfect inning in the bottom of the ninth, sending the game into extra innings. In the top of the tenth, Treinen gave up a one-out single to Jazz Chisholm Jr. who then stole second base. Anthony Rizzo was intentionally walked, and Chisholm Jr. stole third. The next batter, Anthony Volpe, hit an RBI force-out that was bobbled by Tommy Edman, allowing Chisholm Jr. to score the go-ahead run, giving the Yankees a 3–2 lead.
